Ad policy
As of 15 October 2026 · Annex 3 of the terms
1. What this policy covers
(1) This policy applies to all advertising on ZCROLL: your own campaigns, "Promote profile" and free campaigns we run for third parties. It forms part of our terms (Annex 3).
(2) It explains where and how ads appear, which ad classes exist, what is prohibited, what mandatory information certain industries need and how we review.
(3) The law applies in addition to this policy. What we allow here may still be unlawful in an individual case. You are responsible for your ads and your landing pages (terms § 27).
2. Where and how ads appear
(1) Format: The ad is a full-screen image or video with a countdown of 6, 15 or 30 seconds. Optionally it has a button with a predefined text (section 9).
(2) Placement: It appears on other users' profiles before a visitor performs an action: opening a link, opening a widget, calling, opening WhatsApp or directions, starting a game. It runs on Free profiles, on profiles of users who earn with ads, and before redirects from their own websites.
(3) Frequency: In the "once per visitor" mode a visitor sees at most one ad per profile in 30 minutes; after the ad we show them when the next one will appear at the earliest. Earners can also choose "on every click" for their profile.
(4) Ads never appear before the imprint, privacy policy, conditions, this policy, subscription and cancellation pages, customer links from emails, emergency numbers, forms, payment steps and reporting functions.
(5) Labelling: Every ad carries
- the label "Ad" (for erotic ads "Ad · 18+"; ads for ZCROLL itself carry the label "ZCROLL"),
- the note "Ad by …" with the name or company of the advertiser from their billing details,
- "Why am I seeing this?" with the reasons for the selection (industry, language, country; no personal profiles),
- "Report ad".
Visitors can "Cancel" at any time. In our apps ads can be closed at any time.
(6) Delivery without personal profiles: We select based on context, not on the behaviour of individual visitors. We take into account the ad class and channel (section 3), the campaign's languages and countries, the industry of the ad, the profile owner's exclusions and blocks, competitor protection (section 11), the maximum spot length the profile owner allows and whether the campaign may also run on adult profiles (default: no). Among the suitable campaigns chance decides, weighted by the remaining budget. There is no auction.
(7) Apps: Only Standard class campaigns run in the apps.
3. Ad classes
Each campaign has exactly one class. It determines the price and where the ad may run. A campaign's creatives must match the class.
| Class | Where it runs | When |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | everywhere: website and apps | always |
| Dating | website only, only on profiles whose owners have expressly allowed dating ads | always |
| Erotic 18+ | website only, only on adult (NSFW) profiles whose owners have expressly allowed erotic ads | only 11 pm–6 am (German time), because we do not carry out age verification |
3.1 Standard
All normal industries. Swimwear and lingerie only in catalogue style: the product is the focus, no sexualised pose.
3.2 Dating
Serious partner search without sexual innuendo. "Sugar" offers, affair portals and sex contact portals are not permitted.
3.3 Erotic 18+
- Permitted: provocative poses; partial nudity without visible genitals or nipples and without sexual acts; fetish clothing without acts; erotic shops without explicit depiction of products.
- Currently not permitted: advertising for adult content, including subscriptions of adult creators (e.g. on fan platforms), even if the ad itself is not explicit.
3.4 Pornography – never permitted
Visible genitals, sexual acts and explicit fetish scenes are not permitted in any class.
4. Always prohibited
Regardless of class and industry, ads are never permitted for or with:
- escort, prostitution and sexual services for payment;
- any reference to minors or childlike appearance in a sexualised context;
- violence, lack of consent, animals in a sexual context, incest themes;
- drugs and narcotics, including nitrous oxide for intoxication;
- tobacco, e-cigarettes, nicotine products and accessories;
- prescription medicines;
- before-and-after images of cosmetic surgery and other surgical procedures to change shape, including fillers (e.g. hyaluronic acid);
- CFDs, binary options and financial providers without the required licence;
- games without a youth rating (USK 18 or PEGI 18);
- unlawful products and services;
- misleading or fraudulent claims, such as false promises of winnings, cures or earnings, pyramid schemes or fake system messages;
- hate, incitement and discrimination;
- content that infringes third-party rights (copyright, trademark, personality rights);
- malware, phishing and pages that download files unprompted;
- political advertising (section 6).
5. Industries we do not advertise
We do not accept ads for these industries, not even under another industry:
- Politics
- Religion
- Weapons
- Pharma: medicines, including over-the-counter ones
- Cannabis, including CBD products
- Gambling: casinos, sports betting, lotteries and gaming halls
- Alcohol
- Crypto: cryptocurrencies, tokens, NFTs and trading platforms for them
6. Political advertising
(1) Political advertising is prohibited on ZCROLL. This includes ads by or for parties, candidates, office holders, elections, referendums and legislative procedures, as well as ads that are recognisably intended to influence the outcome of an election or referendum or a legislative procedure.
(2) For every campaign you confirm that it is not political advertising.
7. Mandatory information per industry
Our review additionally checks these points if the creative belongs to one of these industries:
| Industry | What the ad must contain or what applies |
|---|---|
| Finance | For loans the statutory mandatory information including a representative example (borrowing rate, annual percentage rate, net loan amount). For advertising in the Netherlands additionally "Let op! Geld lenen kost geld". No promises of profit for investments. |
| Health & wellness | Statutory mandatory notices are included in the ad. No promises of cure, no advertising with fear, no statements that make medical treatment appear unnecessary. |
| Family & baby | The ad is aimed at parents, not at children. No direct purchase appeals to children. |
| Gaming | Only games rated up to USK 16 or PEGI 16. |
| Automotive | For new cars, the information on fuel or electricity consumption and CO₂ emissions. |
| Real estate | The mandatory information from the energy certificate, if one exists. |
8. General requirements for creatives
(1) True and clear: The ad must clearly identify the advertiser and the offer. Prices to consumers are final prices including VAT.
(2) Landing page: The landing page matches the ad, works and does not require an installation. Link shorteners, ZCROLL itself and competing platforms are blocked as targets. We maintain the block list continuously.
(3) No deception: Creatives must not look like controls of ZCROLL or the operating system: no fake "Continue" or "Close" button, no fake system messages, no fake countdowns.
(4) Quality: Images and videos must be sharp and fit portrait format. Videos are at least as long as the booked spot length. We check format, resolution and file size on upload.
(5) Language: The ad is in one of the campaign's languages.
9. Buttons
(1) Buttons only have predefined texts, no free text: "Sign Up Now", "Learn More", "Buy Now", "Try Now", "Grab This Offer", "Download App", "Book Now", "Contact Us", "Discover Now", "Start Free". For "Promote profile" the button is always "View Profile".
(2) The button opens the landing page in a new window. It costs a surcharge (terms Annex 1).
10. Rights to content
(1) You need all rights to images, videos, music, fonts and trademarks in your ad.
(2) If you show identifiable persons, you need their consent to use in advertising. This also applies to the banner and avatar for "Promote profile".
(3) Music in videos must be licensed for advertising.
11. Context, competitor protection and filters
(1) Competitor protection: On profiles we recognise as a business, we do not show ads from the industry that belongs to the profile's category. This is an effort, not a guarantee.
(2) Profile owners' filters: Earners can exclude industries and block individual advertisers. Your ad then does not appear there.
(3) Adult profiles: Your campaign only runs on adult profiles if you expressly allow this when creating it (default: no). Erotic 18+ campaigns only run there.
12. Review by ZCROLL
(1) Before the start: A person on our team reviews every creative before it runs: whether the class fits, whether it violates this policy and the industry's mandatory information (section 7). This also applies to "Promote profile".
(2) Class: If the class does not fit, we reject with the reason "Class does not fit: …". We never change the class silently.
(3) Rejection: If we reject, we tell you the reason. You can revise the creative and resubmit it.
(4) Duration: We usually review within two working days.
(5) After the start: Following a report or new findings we review again and may stop running ads. Views already seen and valid are settled.
(6) No legal review for you: Our review is not legal advice and does not relieve you.
13. Reporting
(1) Every ad has "Report ad". Reasons: offensive content or content harmful to minors, misleading or fraudulent, does not fit the context, spam, other. A description is optional. You do not need an account. Reports can also be sent to support@zcroll.com.
(2) A person reviews every report.
14. Violations and consequences
(1) In the event of violations we may reject or stop creatives, pause campaigns, block the "Run ads" feature for your account and, in serious cases, terminate your account.
(2) We give reasons for every measure. You can object (terms § 6).
(3) We refund unused credit on request (terms § 28(5)).
15. Changes
We update this policy when the law or our offer changes. Changes apply to new creatives and campaigns. For running campaigns we announce them with 15 days' notice, unless an immediate change is legally necessary.
